Who is Tara Robertson?
Tara has been practicing and teaching yoga for over 10 years. What started as a form of cross training when she was a mid-distance runner, soon became her passion. The first form of Yoga Teacher Training came from GreenPath Yoga, which taught Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series. This intense form of yoga moves through a challenging set sequence that requires a high level of fitness. After teaching this form for a few years, she saw the need to work with the foundation skills of body awareness. She continued her learning from such noted teachers as Jill Miller, Shiva Rea, Scott Blossom, Max Strom, Mark Stephans, and Duncan Wong. Each teacher has a unique style and systematic approach to working with alignment and awareness. From each of these teachers Tara has learned how to see and deconstruct the human body from many perspectives. Tara now holds certification in Yoga Tune Up and is studying to become a physical therapist. These skills allow her to create pain-free yet challenging one-on-one sessions.
As well as teaching Yoga, Tara is a Certified Massage Therapist. Having received training in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Ayurvedic, and various forms of Therapeutic Techniques, she has melded them together to create a unique style that allows her to customize her approach to the needs of the client.
Drawing on yogic knowledge and body awareness of massage therapy, Tara also trains “hardstyle kettlebells.” Working extensively with kettlebells, she has noticed a shift and deepening of her body awareness, strength, and movement patterns. Now she incorporates the explosive movements of kettlebells into her sessions to customize an approach for each client.
